It’s a great day!
I’ve begun my next children’s book! I will champion my youngest child, Gage, in this story. He is a young man who has battled several ailments as a young boy and one of those diseases is called CRPS.
CRPS is a chronic pain ailment that surfaces in people, most often in the arm or leg after a surgery, accident or traumatic event. Many never conquer it, because it is not a curable disease that one or a specific treatment can vanquish. Most will fight it for the entirety of their lives, but a few can go into remission, after finding their way through many trial end error, medications, surgeries, treatments, or via medical assistance.
This disease drastically altered my sons autoimmunity and his life. I fought for him, but he fought harder and achieved remission.
Empathy is needed for children battling rare and unusual invisible illnesses. Many accused my son of making up his pain, including teachers and physicians. I’m incredibly thankful for the eventual medical professionals that we found at Riley Children’s Hospital in Indianapolis.
My son was 11 when his pain began. He is 23 now and continues to have autoimmune issues, but his CRPS remains in remission. I’m so incredibly thankful that our prayers were answered.
Gage and the Invisible illness; CRPS Complex Regional Pain Syndrome.
Coming Fall of 2024. 🤞🏼
