Betrayal is a word that smacks you in the face. It’s not a warm word. It reeks of cold hearted tendencies.
Betrayal eclipses warm words, such as love and comfort. When you hear of betrayal, it stops you in your tracks.
When a parent casts you aside and chooses to move onward without you in their life, what would you call it? Is that love? Is that comforting? Is it betrayal?
I have lived a life that has me undefended, cast off, and never chosen. The perpetrator of some of my most painful moments was chosen over me, my father. The master manipulator won and the message is clear. I’m not in that family any longer. They made that choice for me and I continue to abide by it.
